The ever continuing list of favourite movie characters: Spock: Star Trek (2009):↳ Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy: Are you out of your Vulcan mind? Are you making a logical choice, sending Kirk away? Probably. But, the right one? You know, back home we have a saying: “If you’re gonna ride in the Kentucky Derby, you don’t leave your prize stallion in the stable.”
Spock: A curious metaphor, doctor, as a stallion must first be broken before it can reach its potential.

Can I just take a moment for this gif?
No one ever comments or says anything about this moment, but after playing Sylar for so long and getting so inside his head, this is a very important thing he says. Like foreshadowing what happens to him through season three and four.
This man has relied on talking to the only person who he’s pursued for years, picking through her brain and keeping her alive. He could have easily sliced her head off, but he choose to keep her alive whilst he got the ability because he doesn’t actually like to kill people.
Out of all the metaphorical questions he asks, that’s the only that could even have an answer, the only one he actually has to stop and stare out. Because love is foreign to him, even then. Sure, he didn’t know his parents weren’t actually his parents yet, but he killed his mother who was always pushing him to be better and better then what he was. A father who ran out when he was six. Women who used and destroyed him.Love is something so out of reach for him and he knows it. Someone as twisted and cruel as him is incapable of love anymore. He can’t trust and kills anyone who even shows signs of becoming attached to him.
But there’s always that loneliness he can’t fight. Can you imagine him at night when the hunger isn’t over taking his mind? Sitting alone in the dark in someplace new every night and thinking about everything he’s ever done and the list only continues to grow more and more vile and evil. He’s wrapped himself up so deeply into Sylar there is no Gabriel left.
Gabriel could have loved, he could have loved and be loved, but Sylar was just too much and now this is what he is and forever will be. He searches so hard to find something to sate the hunger of killing and knowing more, anything to make himself a God, because he isn’t human anymore.
Sylar is a demon in human flesh, darkness that just goes through and swallows everything up in his path, and just like darkness you can’t catch him. You can’t get to him. Nothing you can do or say could ever really stop him.
And that terrifies him.
What is there to life if you can’t love or be loved? Is this all he’ll be in his immortal life? Just killing and moving forward? A man without purpose who continues on like a machine. Never stopping, lurking in the background, waiting to pounce on his next challenge.
